What Makes SBDGU Different?

The SBDGU was formed in 2014 with the mission to promote disc golf sports through education, friendly competition, and build community awareness.  SBDGU is an organization that consists of a five member board of volunteers voted on by the active disc golf community.  This board actively participates in Shreveport Bossier City Council Meetings, Shreveport Bossier Park Department Meetings, as well as, other city department meetings in order promote, communicate, and educate the community on the growing sport of disc golf.

One of our current projects is building Airport Park Disc Golf Course which will allow SBDGU to participate in the growing needs of the community in west Shreveport.  The tentative scheduled Grand Opening will be March 2018.  SBDGU will be able to plant the seed of hope to new community players of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels with unity.   With the help of volunteers SBDGU will be able to promote our favorite sport by actively instructing the youth in our community with this project at the Airport Park & Community Center

With the help of Shreveport Public Assembly and Recreation also known as SPAR, the second project currently underway is the building of Southern Hills Disc Golf Course.  Upon completion this course the residents that live in south Shreveport will also be able to enjoy and participate in disc golf.

We are proud to be able to extend our course development to Bossier Parish.  With the help of US Army Corps of Engineers Bayou Bodcau Dam & Reservoir Disc Golf Course is the third project currently underway.  With the completion of this project Bossier Parish, SBDGU, and the growing community of disc golf players will be able to experience all of the natural beauty north Louisiana has to offer in a variety of recreational experiences.

Projects to be completed in 2018 will be the expansion of Earl G. Williams Disc Golf Course from its current 9 basket course to an updated and redesigned 18 basket course.  Scheduled update of baskets and repaving of walkway at Highland Disc Golf Course and repairs with continued course maintenance of Ford Park and Clyde Fant Park.   All of this is being made possible with the help of SPAR, Caddo Parish Parks and Recreation and the members of SBDGU.

By joining SBDGU, you are becoming a member of a club of athletes who are united for one cause, to enjoy and participate in the sport of disc golf.  With the growing popularity of disc golf, SBDGU is strengthening our numbers in hopes of creating a community of players of all ages, backgrounds, and skill levels to unite and further our favorite sport and activity.
